Just finished reading Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter now I must read the rest of the series but I'll torture myself by only reading one a month. Now I'm reading Cabinet of Curiosities by Preston/Child -- another torture device, this one discovered last month. Lots of new-to-me authors discovered this month.
I'm actually reading a science fiction book at the moment, if you can believe that. John Scalzi's Old Man's War. It's good so far. Sort of Heinlein-lite.
Did you like Rob Walker's new book? I've been planning to read it, too.
Have to pipe up and answer Jon's 'what are you reading' question, and mention Rob Kantner's amazing short story collection, "Trouble is What I Do", featuring Ben Perkins. Kantner is the best, and I'm so excited that he's working on another Perkins novel....
If you're not familier with the Perkins series, Ben is a Detroit based part-time PI whose 'regular' job is running the maintenance crew at a condo complex. He's rough edged and hard-boiled, and doesn't have a heart of gold, but he does have a set of principles that he won't abandon, no matter what. The stories really are awesome....
Agreed Rob Kanter is great. He took such a long hiatus from writing that most people assumed he'd gone to see that big typewriter in the sky, but life had just pulled him in other directions for some time, but he's back at it now. Joe Konrath actually "found" him and wrote up a big story of "Finding Rob Kanter" about a year ago. Joe Konrath is a great read too, if you haven't tried the big man's work! What a cool idea, too. No alphabet soup for Joe....not when there's booze to be had. Instead of doing the Alphabet, he is going down the drink menu with each title -- Whiskey Sour, Bloody Mary, Rusty Nail, and I am breathlessly awaiting Screaming Virgin.
Congratulate me! Poisoned Pen named City for Ransom their select PICK for its category -- that would be HYstery -- for Jan. 2006. Now that's sompin to crow about! Hope to see you all at Love is Murder in Chicago Feb 3-5. Full disclsoure and the usual suspects found at Loveismurder.net
Shut up.

What are you reading?
I just read Ultimate X-Men vol.12 in tradepaperback, and the new Robert Walker called City For Ransom.
